Travel Essentials: Skincare

As I’ve mentioned before (and I’m sure you’ve seen), I am pale.  I used to tan well, back in the days when we thought being out in the sun all day was good for us.  Then I found out that I had developed a skin condition.  It’s so rare that  dermatologists get overally thrilled when I tell them about it and so rare that I’m actually in a medical text book.  That being said, I have to limit my sun exposure.

Seeing that I have less than a week until I’m basking in the sun, I just wanted to share with you some of my favorite products to stay safe, but continue to look good.

1. Infinity Sun Glow On The Go

Even though I’m pale, I don’t particularly enjoy looking ghostly.  Because I’ll be getting married while I’m in Belize, I wanted to have some color so  don’t blend in with my off-white gown.  Infinity Sun is great because it’s easy to apply, it doesn’t have an orange tint, and it doesn’t rub off on my clothes or streak.  That’s the biggest problem I’ve encountered with other products.

2. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock

We all know SPF is important.  For me, it’s a necessity unless I want to break out in a hive-like manner.  I like Neurtrogena because it’s light, doesn’t have a greasy feeling, and doesn’t clog my pores.  It also doesn’t give you those embarrassing milky white smudges after you apply.

3. San Diego Hat Company Paperbraid Hat

You’ve all seen the photos of me in my giant hat (as witnessed above).  While I never deemed myself a hat person, I hadn’t ever found a brim big enough for my liking.  I love the versatility of it.  It’s lightweight, folds for packing, and protects my upper torso from the sun.  I should also mention that I feel like a very glamorous 50s movie star while wearing it.

How do you stay protected in the sun?

  1. My daily moisturizer has SPF, and I just bought a big floppy hat for the summer! I can’t wait to wear it – fashionable and sun-friendly!
